2002 Harley Davidson Fat Boy Winner

Saturday, November 10, 2001 was a wonderful day in the life of Michael Cocco of Cheshire, Connecticut. He came home to find a message on his answering machine to call the New England Carousel Museum. He was the winner of the new, beautiful, red and silver 2002 Harley Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle raffled off by the New England Carousel Museum as their major annual fundraiser.

The reception which was held at the Museum on Saturday evening was well attended. Miss Bristol, Alicia Monico, attended the reception to draw the winning ticket number, 1262, at 7 p.m. She was assisted by Father Ed Przygocki of Terryville.

Michael Cocco met with Louise DeMars, Executive Director of the Carousel Museum, on Monday to verify his ticket number and to see his bike. DeMars said, "He was very excited to have won. He told me that he picked up a Harley flyer at the Bushnell Park Carousel in Hartford during the Harley Toy Run on October 7, 2001 and sent it in to receive a ticket by mail."

Second Prize winner is Mark Nelson from Plainville, Connecticut, ticket number 1623. Nelson won a motorcycle trailer. Third prize winner, with ticket number 1739, is Neftali Cabiya from Terryville, Connecticut. Neftali won a $100 gift certificate to New London County Motorcycle.

The Museum staff, members of the boards, friends, and ticket distribution sites all pulled together selling tickets for this fundraiser. The maximum tickets to be sold was 2000. The group sold 1673 this year. DeMars said, "We are deeply appreciative of the help we received with ticket sales from businesses and individuals in the community and beyond. The Museum is a treasure for Bristol and we hope other people will come forward to help us next year."

Don and Rose Werner, owners of New London County Motorcycle on Route 184 in Groton, Connecticut, have worked with the Museum for years helping and supporting this annual fundraiser for the Carousel Museum.
